More King of Queens and NewsRadio DVDs
Fantastic DVD News!!
Sony has just announced the fifth season of The King of Queens and the fourth season of NewsRadio for DVD release on June 20, 2006!! These are very welcome releases, although that day is already quite crowded, what with Season 4 of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, as well as the multiple Superman TV releases (Adventures of Superman Seasons 3&4, Lois and Clark Season 3, Superman The Animated Series Volume 3, and Superboy Season 1).
It has been so long since the last King of Queens DVD, which was released to coincide with the DVD release of Hitch (starring Kevin James) in June 2005. Hopefully, Season 6 will be on the schedule before the end of this year at the very least. Why do these releases take so long when there aren't even any special features on the set?!?
As for NewsRadio, I just finished watching Season 3 several weeks ago, and I can't stop thinking about how brilliant this show was! The only bad thing about this next season set is that Season 4 was the last to feature Phil Hartman. I don't think I've ever seen many of the Jon Lovitz episodes of Season 5, and Lovitz is one of my personal favorite comedians, but somehow, I'm sure it just won't be the same without The Real Deal with Bill McNeal and Phil Hartman's amazing style of humor. I am just so thankful that while he was alive, he was able to work on so many different TV shows and movies so that his work will always be remembered.
The good news, however, is that Sony will continue with the special features on Season 4 of NewsRadio. I can't wait to watch the bonus Pop-Up version of the 50th episode that will be included. I just hope there are more commentaries, not that I've listened to any of the ones on the earlier sets. Nevertheless, I feel they add a lot of value to these DVDs.
Oh, and one last thing. I think I've decided that this blog will mostly be about the latest DVD news, although I plan to write about many various topics.
